To Cobalt, ED&I is a journey, not a checkbox.

Our people are at the heart of what we do. We are in the business of people after all. We also know it’s important to the candidates and clients we work with, otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this – right?

That’s why at Cobalt we are adopting a human-first approach to how we operate. It’s a promise to understand and embrace everyone. It’s also a commitment to reflecting on where we are, how we got here and acknowledging that it’s time for change.

It’s not simple, otherwise, we would have done it by now. But this is a journey, not a checkbox.

This is where we hold ourselves accountable, but also a place to celebrate our achievements.

Attrition is the biggest cost to any business, so a focus on ED&I can improve retention and save costs across the board. We know our clients face the same challenges that we have when it comes to ED&I, so by sharing our experiences Cobalt help take ED&I from intentions to actions.

By utilising our expertise and what we’ve learnt along the journey, we help our clients make their workplaces inclusive and inviting.

It all starts with a conversation to understand the values of your business. What’s important to you, and how does ED&I fit into that. Then we work alongside you to curate a bespoke ED&I strategy that will elevate the potential of all your people.

2. Hiring and onboarding

The what, the who, and the how of hiring. We’ve left no stone unturned in analysing our processes to optimise them for equity, diversity & inclusion.

3. Culture

We want to cultivate a diverse, interesting, and healthy work culture for our team. It’s driven by our people, for our people. It’s everything from the way we work with each other, the way we make decisions, how we recognise, reward and celebrate our successes, to how we communicate with our people.

4. Language

This encompasses how we talk about and visually communicate Cobalt to the world, but also how we talk about our people, our candidates, or clients.

We’re committed to using a people-first language, where our characteristics don’t define us. It’s important that we encourage our people to feel confident and empowered, so they’re ready to ask questions in order to understand and learn about the people we’re working with.
