Cobalt have partnered with a leading real estate investor, specialising in social housing facilities across the UK. Privately backed, this business is currently seeking a Finance Director to join the wider group of companies, spearheading key decisions, as well as advising the board on future opportunities.

Working across the development and evolution life cycle, you will support a variety of members within the group specialising in supported houses, as well as take ownership of the expanding finance team and duties within.

Key duties include, but not limited to:

  • Provide strategic oversight of the financial affairs of the business and its members.

  • Redesign operating models for the finance and operations team to ensure best in class.

  • Take leadership on optimising the corporate structure, and to adjust it for future corporate actions.

  • Identify and manage organisational risk ensuring effective financial controls are in place.

  • Liaise with the necessary Regulators

Other duties include

  • Work with the outsourced accountants to ensure timely preparation of the annual management accounts.

  • Liaise with the accountants and auditors to ensure the timely preparation of the Statutory Financial Statements and Corporation Tax Returns.

  • Responsible to ensure all filings are made complete, accurately and on-time.

  • Oversea the preparation of individual management account packs with detailed commentary, benchmarking to business plan and other relevant metrics.

  • Responsible for presenting the management accounts to the Board for review on a quarterly basis and explaining any material variances.

  • Efficient and proactive cash management including strong invoice collection and optimising cash holdings across the holding company and subsidiaries

  • Prepare weekly/monthly Treasury analysis for the

  • Work with the team to prepare and manage the necessary periodic filings of finance information on the relevant FCA portals.

Experience required

  • ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent with relevant post qualified experience in the Housing or Real Estate sectors.

  • Held Finance Director/CFO positions in within similar organisations

  • Must be familiar with tasks required by a CFO role and have an in-depth understanding of working in a top-level financial role for a real estate business.

  • Show ability to communicate clearly on various technical issues and to maintain a high level of professionalism when dealing with clients, investors and colleagues.

  • Enjoy effective process management and improvement skills with a track record of driving and implementing successful transformation projects.
