Cobalt are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join on of London's most exciting boutique real estate investors & developers, with a global portfolio across both residential & commercial properties.

This role will set very closely with senior management and development teams in an advisory capacity, undertaking all aspects of financial management, including financial accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget preparation and on-going monitoring, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. You will also be in charge of financial risk management.

Other duties include but not limited to:

Financial accounting and reporting

  • Manage all accounting operations including inter-company billings, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
  • Ensure that suppliers invoices are capture in correct projects/ accounts
  • Reconciliation of inter-company balances
  • Prepare journal entries for quarter-end and year-end closings
  • Responsible for completion data-intensive calculations of month-end processes
  • Maintenance of work in process and segmentation of data and support for project phases and reporting
  • Ensure the reconciliation of AP
  • Prepare accounts for quarterly VAT submissions
  • Finalising the accounts for regulatory reporting
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting

Budgetary control

  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget for each project
  • On-going cost monitoring and control
  • Ensure suppliers billings and payments are in-line with the progress of the projects
  • Prompt report of any variances
  • Manage project cash flow
  • Work closely with key suppliers/ contractors to assess and analyse the cost status of the works
  • Work closely with development team and other team members to analyse and report on the cost status of the project highlighting progress and variance and make recommendations of key actions where applicable and implement the agreed actions
  • Review engagement letters/ contracts of suppliers/ contractors/ consultants to mitigate financial risk

Key requirements

  • Experience of working within real estate/ property development in a similar role
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Experience with closing and finalising accounts
  • Knowledge of with dealing with HMRC
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Excellent MS Excel skills
