Job Title - Head of Consulting

Salary - £110,000 / £135,000 + Bonus + Package

Location - London based - UK Wide

The Role

As the Head of Consulting, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of the Consulting business plan ensuring that a safety, customer and people-focused culture and approach underpin all activities. You will be responsible for delivering regional and business unit objectives in accordance with the existing Consulting strategy, and for the continued development of the strategy to secure consultancy appointments; to use Consulting's external relationships to create opportunities for other business units; and, where required, to provide support to work winning activities within the Europe region. You will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team of our client and will have joint responsibility for the achievement of that business unit's objectives. You will be an advocate of our clients' values through your internal and external activity and will proactively support business growth and the development of people.

  • As the Head of Consulting, you will chair the Consulting Senior Management Team and will directly manage the Consulting leadership team.

  • You will be responsible for the safety performance of the Consulting business unit and will chair the Consulting safety meeting.

  • You will report directly to the MD, Construction (Europe).

  • You will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team of Construction (Europe) and will be jointly responsible for the carrying out of the duties of that business.

  • You will take an active role in the various meetings dedicated to work winning (e.g. Construction Bid Prioritisation Forum, Regional Business Development Forum) and ensure that the leaders of other regional business units, such as Development and Investment Management, are aware of the Consulting activities, pipeline and target key clients.

  • You will develop and maintain an external presence in the market and actively manage key external client relationships on behalf of Consulting and the broader Construction business.

  • Proactively engage with and manage key internal stakeholder relationships primarily with the other regional business units of Development and Investment Management.

  • You will be required to engage in and contribute positively to the wider leadership initiatives across the region, including the coaching and mentoring of staff.

  • You will remain agile and adaptable to change of reporting lines and responsibilities, and you will contribute proactively to the greater integration of business activities within the region.

Candidate Criteria

  • Safety leadership: deep belief in the principles of safety demonstrated through personal behaviour and a practical understanding of how to implement a safety culture in the industry

  • Operated and influenced in a matrix structure and run multiple business lines within a global company

  • Developed strategic direction for significant area of accountability

  • Managed a team of senior leaders

  • Managed a P&L

  • Track record of originating and developing business across different customer channels and sustaining a growth and profit position in difficult circumstances, for instance, under tight cost constraints, competitive pressure, different economic cycles

  • Strong track record of making decisions that gained the individual respect

  • Lead large teams through integration and business alignment strategies that delivered on desired outcomes and culture

  • Established external strategic networks and partnerships to promote the brand and image of the organisation, including key differentiators

  • Established an active profile within the industry and community in support of executing a business strategy

  • Deep knowledge of business operating models, key Risk/Reward drivers across multiple business lines and how to extract and protect value

  • Local market expertise / solid knowledge
