Head of Finance

Cobalt have partnered with a highly entrepreneurial real estate investor, asset, fund and property manager, currently seeking a Head Of Finance to join the team. This is a CFO designate role with the chance to adapt and create something new as this position has never existed internally.

Working closely with the partners, the successful candidate will be involved in growing a finance team, as well as all future transactions across multiple jurisdictions and asset classes. There is also an appetite to further develop the existing portfolio across the UK, Europe and the US alongside the addition of multiple new hires within the finance function.

Key duties include:

  • Provide strategic oversight of the financial affairs of the Group.

  • Take leadership on optimising the corporate structure, and to adjust it for future corporate actions.

  • Build and develop Finance Team

  • Responsible for the preparation of individual management account packs per entity and consolidated management accounts packs for the Group as a whole with detailed commentary, bench marking to PLAN and other relevant metrics. Owning and continually developing the management packs as the business grows and evolves.

  • Responsible for presenting the management accounts to the Management Board for review on a monthly basis and explaining any arising findings and variances.

  • Responsible for reporting on a profit / cost centre level to individual departments including bench marking to PLAN and variance analysis.

  • Responsible for the preparation of the annual PLAN, income forecasts and cost budgets by department, and on a consolidated level, and the subsequent apportionment between group entities and presentation for approval prior to each new financial (calendar) year.

  • Efficient and proactive cash management including strong invoice collection, sensible creditors management and optimising cash holdings across the Group.

  • Work with Compliance Director to prepare and manage the necessary periodic filings of finance information on the relevant FCA portals.

In addition to the above, the CFO duties will include:

  • Work with the Partner responsible for Debt Financing to secure and execute debt financing for live projects under management either at acquisition, or at key stages of individual project business plans. This will include building strong relationships with lenders, financial partners and debt brokerage teams.

  • Lead on the optimal capital and tax structure for the Group.

  • Oversight of the Property Finance Team.

  • Take Board Level positions on various Group entities to work with the Partners of the Group.

  • Work with the Partners to develop new business initiatives.

Key experience required:

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent)

  • Experience working within real estate, private equity, investment management of hedge funds

  • Knowledge of building and adapting a finance function

  • Understanding of M&A transactions, business developement and future proposals

  • Work well within a team
