Salary - Up to £60,000 + £5500 car and an excellent benefits package
Location - Yorkshire / Midlands
Hybrid - On site requirement 3 days a week.

Cobalt is working with a global tier one contractor has an exciting opportunity for a Planning Engineer to join their Power Transmission & Distribution business unit. Our client provides a range of proactive and reactive services to ensure a reliable and safe power supply to millions of homes and businesses globally. With expertise across overhead power lines, underground cabling, and substations, their teams deliver innovative, technical engineering solutions to regional, national, and international electricity network operators. This individual can be based in the Yorkshire or Midlands area. The Planner's responsibilities include meticulous scheduling and coordination to ensure project success. Tasked with creating and managing detailed construction schedules, the Planner optimizes resource allocation and ensures timely project completion. The role aims to enhance planning procedures, foster collaboration, and boost overall project productivity.
Our projects span England and Wales; for this position, the ideal candidate will be located in the West Midlands or Yorkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure programme content complies with planning procedures and guidance.
Tender Stage: Collaborate to develop a logical sequence and methodology, ensuring efficient design, procurement, and construction strategies for project delivery. Produce planning deliverables, including programmes, philosophies, presentations, reports, and tender documents.
Contract Stage: Create, manage, and maintain the Contract Programme under planning procedures and guidance from the Planning/Project Lead.
Identify and evaluate critical project paths, advising the project team of results and recommending corrective actions as needed.
Produce and maintain project baselines and execute change control processes where appropriate.
Resource Management: Efficiently manage labour, equipment, and materials to meet objectives while minimizing costs and delays.
Data Analysis: Support the planning team in generating project data and KPIs to track progress, identify deviations, and drive improvements.
Qualifications and Experience
Proven experience managing relationships with stakeholders, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Primavera P6 and other project management tools.
Strong understanding of construction methodologies, phases, processes, and requirements.
Experience managing programme changes, particularly within an NEC contract framework.
Knowledge of project scheduling, including creating, managing, and optimizing schedules using industry-standard tools.
Experience in construction or transferable skills from other sectors relevant to construction demands.
