Job Title - Senior Project Planner (M&E)

Location - London

Salary - Up to £95,000 plus an excellent package

Client

Our client is recruiting a Senior M&E Planner, working across several high-profile projects in the London Region both in preconstruction and construction phases.

With a proven record of Planning all aspects of large complex build projects across a variety of sectors, and with building services management experience generally, you will work as an integral member of the bid and construction delivery team, following the values of, Proactive ownership, Open Collaboration, Scalable learning and Predictable performance

The Role

  • M&E planning, monitoring and reporting on large complex projects or a number of smaller projects within a team environment

  • Develop and co-ordinate services work sequences including interfaces between construction, M&E and commissioning activities, informed by handover, commissioning, services installation, construction, procurement and design

  • Understanding the project requirements including Client brief & business processes, and Employer

Requirements

  • Identifying, managing, and mitigating risk, including programme risk

  • Through the programme identifying opportunities to better project delivery by considering how to improve safety, incorporate buildability, improve quality, reduce defects, and provide best value compliant solutions while meeting strategic objectives and contract requirements

  • Review and integrate specialist sub-contractors programmes to ensure they meet the project specifics

  • Prepare tender programmes, tender event schedules, and preconstruction programmes including the design, coordination, procurement and manufacture process for both traditional contracts and our clients internal MEP delivery offering

  • Input into the production of regular progress reports including regular programme baseline and critical path reviews

  • On a day-to-day basis, report to the Project Manager or Building Services Manager, take responsibility for the management of the programme through preconstruction and construction stages in line with company procedures

  • Organising and chairing programme workshop meetings with the project team and sub-contractors. Prepare minutes, notes and reports as required to ensure effective communication and accurate records are maintained

  • Maintaining a professional approach with clients and their professional teams, sub-contractors and suppliers

  • Monitor cause and effect relationships throughout the programme

  • Report findings, and recommend solutions to recover time

  • Draw up plans and present schedules of work through visual aids

  • Proactively help manage relationships with the supply chain

  • Promote a culture of 'right first time' and 'zero defects'

  • Input into the commissioning and handover process

The Candidate

  • With a background within M&E building contracting you will have a strong knowledge of construction processes and sequences together with a good commercial understanding of contracts, procurement routes and risk management

  • A strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services techniques, methods, processes and standards with the ability to work within an integrated multi-disciplined team

  • Multi sector & major project experience within central London

  • Experience in M&E Planning including a familiarity with commissioning programmes and processes

  • Familiarity with both the two stage and single stage tender process

  • Experience in using Asta Powerproject and Microsoft applications

  • Familiar with Autocad, Revit and Navisworks to assist the project teams understanding of installation, construction or design issues

  • Knowledge of 4D modelling preferred

  • Good understanding of digital techniques, with a desire to drive improvements and benefits through embracing digital construction

  • Excellent communication skills, both at the personal level and more formal reporting level

  • Recognised construction/design/engineering degree qualification or equivalent and CIOB, Meng or equivalent
