Cobalt are proud partners of Building Heroes, a fantastic charity who provide building trades skills training to military veterans who have kept us safe, as well as supporting them into employment.
With over 17 years in professional recruitment for the built environment industry, we are aware of the challenges our clients in the UK construction industry are facing due to a 230,000-person skills shortage – the highest since 1998.
We are working with Building Heroes to raise awareness of and create connections with their fantastic veterans and to support them with their mission to tackle unemployment amongst the 120,000 unemployed military veterans of working age in Britain today, by offering them a seamless transition to a new career in construction.
What do they do?
Dedicated to service leavers and veterans The Building Heroes Charity through training and employment help this valued cohort of society progress into Civvy street jobs.
Building Heroes Training Academies are held at four colleges around the country. Training courses last 5 weeks and graduates qualify with a Level 1 City & Guilds in Construction & Health and Safety plus a CSCS card. Once graduated the Building Heroes recruitment team works with veteran graduates to progress into property maintenance or construction-related jobs. Graduating veterans say this course changed their lives. Employers report Building Heroes graduates set levels of excellence with their dedication and discipline.
How can Cobalt clients benefit and contribute?
Graduates who have completed the 5-week course, are vetted by tutors who ensure quality candidates are put forward saving recruitment officers precious time. Building Heroes national network of graduated veterans can fulfil most multiskilled labour type jobs plus through their time in the army veterans’ qualifications also can include HGV licence, gas engineers, mechanics, security and welding plus more. These are skilled and well-trained individuals who need job opportunities.
Building Heroes is looking for strategic partners who can offer paid employment to its graduating veterans. Ideally supplying them with recruitment forecasts which they can then advertise and train veterans to fill. Should a veteran secure employment Building Heroes ask for a placement donation which will help continue to train veterans.
Building Heroes would also love to talk to any companies looking to nominate and support the Building Heroes Charity through sponsored events, payroll giving, donations or corporate sponsorship.
