About the Role

Cobalt is partnering with a highly regarded, independent consultancy specialising in planning, development, and environmental services, as they look to expand their Development Economics team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to join an employee-owned business known for its collaborative culture, technical excellence, and exposure to high-profile, multi-sector projects.

Working alongside industry-leading professionals, you will support the delivery of complex and varied schemes across residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. This role offers strong career development, hands-on project involvement, and the chance to build your professional profile within a well-respected consultancy.

You will play a key role in providing evidence-based advice, analysing data, and supporting development viability work, while engaging with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting development viability assessments and financial modelling
  • Analysing planning policy, legislation, and site-specific data
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports on affordable housing, infrastructure, and housing delivery
  • Contributing to development appraisals and housing strategies
  • Supporting bids, proposals, and project budget management
  • Attending meetings, site visits, and stakeholder consultations
  • Assisting with client engagement and wider business development activity

Skills and experience required:

  • A relevant degree and working towards or already achieved RICS Chartered Level
  • An understanding of the factors influencing projects and commercial decisions, the functioning of housing market and have development viability knowledge
  • Proven experience of preparing basic reports, analysing data and basic statistical analysis concepts
  • Can demonstrate professionalism and strong personal qualities, including sound judgement, integrity, accountability, attention to detail, a solid work ethic, and the ability to present confidently and articulately.
  • Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team, engaging positively with colleagues, collaborating well across groups.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and other IT packages.
