Development/Valuations Surveyor - Assistant up to Senior
Meet Our Recruiter
Kate Peers-McQueen
About the Role
Join a growing residential development consultancy team and gain direct exposure to senior property professionals while working on significant development projects across the UK.
The organisation
Cobalt is working with an established multi-disciplinary property consultancy to appoint a Development Surveyor to its London team.
The consultancy advises clients across the property sector, with its Residential Development Consultancy team working on projects ranging from major urban regeneration schemes and new settlements to large-scale brownfield and greenfield developments.
The team is small and has an experienced senior structure. For a Development Surveyor earlier in their career, this creates an opportunity to gain visibility, work closely with senior colleagues and build towards long-term progression.
The role and responsibilities
As a Development Surveyor, you will work across development consultancy and valuation assignments for a client base that includes registered providers, local authorities, private developers and institutional investors.
Working alongside senior members of the team, you will develop your technical knowledge while gaining exposure to a varied portfolio of residential development projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Preparing valuations for residential development projects, including Red Book valuations where appropriate.
* Supporting valuations relating to Section 106 package deals and new-build residential stock.
* Undertaking site inspections, comparable evidence gathering and property research.
* Preparing Financial Viability Assessments to support planning applications.
* Producing residual valuation models using systems including Argus Developer and SDS ProVal.
* Providing residential development and valuation advice across a range of projects.
* Building relationships with clients and contributing to the wider work of the team.
The right candidate will have the opportunity to build a broad grounding across development consultancy and valuation, with exposure to experienced colleagues and clear scope to progress as their capabilities develop.
The skills needed and requirements
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have a good grounding in property valuation, development consultancy or a related area.
MRICS qualification and RICS Registered Valuer status would be preferred, but they are not essential where a candidate can demonstrate the relevant skill set. Candidates working towards chartered or Registered Valuer status will also be considered.
You should be able to demonstrate:
* Working knowledge of residential development or property valuation.
* An understanding of inspections, comparable evidence and valuation research.
* Working knowledge of Argus Developer, or relevant valuation modelling experience.
* Clear report-writing, analytical and communication skills.
* The ability to work effectively within a small team and take responsibility for your work.
* A full UK driving licence.
Experience of affordable housing valuations or SDS ProVal would be useful but is not essential.
For a Development Surveyor looking to strengthen their technical experience, this role offers the chance to learn from an established senior team while contributing to significant residential projects across the UK.
