About the Role
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced ecologist to lead on bat-related projects, from surveys and reporting through to licensing, mitigation, monitoring, and site supervision. Alongside bat ecology, you'll also contribute to wider ecological surveys, including habitats, dormice, reptiles, and great crested newts.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver bat surveys, licensing, mitigation, and monitoring projects
- Undertake and support protected species and habitat surveys
- Write technical reports and provide client advice on ecological matters
- Act as Ecological Clerk of Works and oversee watching briefs on site
- Manage your own workload while coordinating with wider team schedules
- Lead survey teams and provide authoritative, pragmatic advice to clients
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 2 years' ecological consultancy experience
- Degree in ecology or a related field
- Associate membership of CIEEM (or eligibility)
- At least one protected species licence (Level 2 Bat Licence desirable)
- Proven experience in report writing and site supervision
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to lead teams
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (business use insurance required)
- Flexibility to work nights during bat survey season and occasional travel away from home
- Physically fit and able to work on large outdoor sites
