About the Role

This established design and build contractor delivers commercial and industrial fit-out projects across London and the South East. They have a strong reputation among repeat clients and end users in the industrial and office sectors, delivering high-quality Cat A and Cat B schemes up to £4m in value. You'll be joining a small, collaborative, and ambitious team that values quality, professionalism, and progression.

 

This is a key position within the commercial team - ideal for an experienced Estimator or Quantity Surveyor with main contracting experience who enjoys seeing projects through from tender to final account.

 

Working closely with the Managing Director and Project Managers, you'll take ownership of all commercial and cost elements of fit-out projects, including tender preparation, procurement, valuations, and final accounts.

 

Core responsibilities include:

  • Reading and interpreting tender documentation to produce compliant submissions.
  • Preparing and managing sub-contract tender packages and evaluating returns.
  • Liaising with clients and suppliers to support site visits and commercial queries.
  • Negotiating and procuring sub-contractors and suppliers upon contract award.
  • Managing project change control and pricing of variations.
  • Preparing interim valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.
  • Reporting on project financial performance to the business.

 

Skills & Experience Required

  • Working knowledge of commercial fit-out or refurbishment projects (Cat A/B - office, industrial or education).
  • Proven experience in both estimating and post-contract cost management.
  • Strong understanding of traditional and design & build JCT contracts.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with a main contractor.
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (Chartered status desirable but not essential).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Confident managing deadlines and maintaining strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners.
  • Full UK driving licence
