About the Role
Job Title - Senior Planner / Planning Manager (Major Project Frameworks)
Location: London
Salary - Up to £115k plus bonus and an excellent benefits package
Overall Purpose of the Role
Based from the central London office, the Senior Planner / Planning Manager will work across multiple projects and sites throughout London and the Thames Valley.
Working across both Pre-Construction and Construction Delivery, you will provide planning and programming expertise across projects at tender, PCSA and live delivery stages, typically ranging from £5m to £250m+.
The role will involve working across a mixture of individual projects and framework environments, supporting multiple concurrent schemes and workstreams. Previous experience operating within a main contractor framework or programme of works would therefore be highly advantageous.

- Residential
- Commercial
- Education
- Custodial / Secure Environments
You will form part of an established Planning Department and work closely with project teams, commercial teams, design teams and supply-chain partners to ensure programmes are robust, achievable and effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and manage fully integrated construction programmes incorporating design, procurement, commercial and construction activities.
- Develop programmes using appropriate output rates, benchmarking, time-risk allowances, terminal float and contractual completion requirements.
- Take responsibility for planning across multiple projects and framework workstreams, ensuring consistency of programme information, reporting and controls.
- Develop, update and manage programmes using Asta Powerproject and Primavera P6.
- Produce and monitor Tender Event Schedules (TES) and procurement schedules.
- Develop tender, PCSA, contract and construction programmes.
- Produce site logistics plans and scaffold schedules.
- Provide planning information for tender settlements, including benchmarking and programme risk.
- Contribute to weekly and fortnightly project progress reporting and BI dashboards.
- Produce internal monthly planning and progress reports.
- Prepare monthly client programme updates and supporting programme narratives.
- Liaise closely with subcontractors and review their programmes, logistics information and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Undertake regular site visits and independently assess actual progress against planned progress.
- Collate progress and as-built information, including productivity and output data.
- Forecast programme scenarios and clearly communicate potential impacts to project teams.
- Identify programme risks and develop appropriate mitigation and recovery strategies.
- Support project teams with delay, change and programme entitlement matters.
- Provide planning expertise and advice across multiple projects.
- Capture lessons learned, benchmarking data and planning best practice across projects and frameworks.
- Support and assist in the development of junior members of the Planning team.
- Promote an inclusive and collaborative working environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong construction planning experience within a UK main contractor environment, covering both tenders/pre-construction and live project delivery.
- Experience working on projects typically valued between £5m and £100m+.
- Previous experience working across frameworks, programmes of works or multiple concurrent projects/workstreams is highly desirable.
- Experience managing programme requirements across a framework environment, including consistent reporting, programme governance, progress monitoring, forecasting and coordination across multiple projects.
- Construction-related qualification such as BSc, HNC/HND or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of construction planning techniques, methodologies and programme controls.
- Strong Asta Powerproject experience.
- Primavera P6 experience is required, with the ability to develop, update, interrogate and manage detailed construction programmes.
- Experience using Bluebeam or similar software.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, methods, plant, labour and resource requirements.
- Proven experience of programme monitoring, progress measurement, critical path analysis and forecasting.
- Experience working with NEC and JCT forms of contract.
- Strong understanding of tender documents, contract documents and construction specifications.
- Knowledge of the events that initiate delay or change entitlement and the programme information required to demonstrate these.
- Ability to review and challenge subcontractor programmes.
- Ability to work independently and manage planning responsibilities across several projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with project, commercial, design and client teams.
- Valid CSCS card.
Particularly Relevant Experience
Candidates with experience working on long-term construction frameworks or programmes involving multiple projects for a repeat client will be particularly well suited to this position.
Experience within healthcare, education, custodial/justice, commercial, residential or other public-sector frameworks would also be advantageous.
The successful candidate should be comfortable using both Asta Powerproject and Primavera P6, and able to move between tender planning, live project controls and higher-level framework/programme reporting.
