About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to take a key role in the delivery of a £5m Cat B commercial fit-out project in St Albans.
This is a 6-month freelance position starting in December and would suit a strong, hands-on Site Manager with an excellent background in commercial Cat A and Cat B fit-out projects.
The Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Day-to-day management of approximately 20 operatives and subcontractors
- Coordinating trades and ensuring works remain on programme
- Managing site logistics and daily activities
- Maintaining high standards of health & safety
- Managing inductions, RAMS and site documentation
- Monitoring quality and ensuring works are completed to specification
- Keeping on top of the site's biometric signing-in system and workforce attendance
- Liaising with the Project Manager, subcontractors and wider project team
- Managing short-term programmes and identifying potential delays
- Maintaining a professional, well-organised and productive site
- Occasional weekend working where required by the programme
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate must have strong previous experience delivering commercial Cat A and Cat B fit-out projects.
You will need to be confident managing a busy live site and coordinating multiple trades, with experience managing teams of around 20 operatives or more.
You should be organised, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of the day-to-day running of the project.
Relevant site management qualifications, including SMSTS, First Aid and CSCS, are expected.
Project Details
This is a £5m commercial Cat B fit-out in St Albans, running for approximately six months from December.
The role is predominantly Monday to Friday, although occasional weekend working will be required depending on the programme.
