Cobalt are currently working with a public sector infrastructure client to find a Senior Analyst to join their Commercial Anayst Team.

The successful candidate will be analysing and interpreting data in order to business partner all areas of the business offering commercial analytical support.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing the business case for all phases of the project and help shaping key decisions.

  • Enhancing the commercial viability of the procurement and operational phases of the project, through analysis of key investment and design decisions

  • Using analytic insights and economic theory to demonstrate the transformational benefits of the project on a regional and national level. As well as securing complementary investment for the scheme.

  • Developing, maintaining and assuring innovative tools and models to provide a centre of excellence for the analytical capabilities of the organisation

  • Manage external analytical contracts with a substantial budget, including procurement and financial management

  • Build and maintain working relationships across the business, acting as an internal analytical consultancy.

  • Communicate well the project finding to key stakeholders including to non-analysts.

  • Draw analytic conclusions from models presenting compelling evidence and the case for change to senior stakeholders and giving well judged advice on a range of high-profile investment decisions.

  • Manage a junior analyst, conducting performance appraisals, coaching and development.

Requirements:

  • Ability to perform analysis through the application of analytical tools, models and techniques, and the synthesis of evidence from a range of sources as appropriate to produce analytical advice

  • A degree in a relevant subject (Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance or Statistics) and/or a professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA or CIMA). Commonly holds a post-graduate qualification

  • Knowledge of specific analytical tools/methodologies e.g. economic analysis, statistics, models, commercial/financial analysis; and knowledge of Excel and the ability to interrogate a range of input data, and identify trends or patterns using Excel based models.

  • Knowledge of transport sector is advantageous.
