Permanent Position - Hybrid Working

£40,000 - £45,000 per annum, plus benefits


We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Service Charge Accountant within the heart of London's West End, working alongside one of Cobalt's longstanding clients. This role is with a specialised managing agent, where you will play a crucial role in handling property accounting duties for their esteemed clientele.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Associate Director, overseeing 1-2 members within the Property Accounts department. With a clear pathway towards progression to supervisory or managerial roles, this position offers an excellent opportunity for those eager to step into a management role, even without prior direct supervisory experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, reconciliation, and recharging of annual service charge accounts

  • Reviewing service charge setups and maintaining ongoing service charge systems for designated properties

  • Posting prepayments and accruals at the service charge year end

  • Monthly review and analysis of expenditure

  • Producing service charge cash reconciliations up to trial balance and identifying any funding issues

  • Coordination with external auditors, addressing identified audit findings

  • Liaison with property management colleagues, acting upon requirements

  • Updating service charge budgets and amending occupier/landlord details accordingly

  • Reconciling direct recoverables, including utility recharge journal postings

Person Specification:

  • Strong self-management skills

  • Able to reconcile service charges and prepare service charge cash reconciliations

  • Experience in commercial or residential real estate accounting

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities
