Assistant Building Manager

About the Role
Cobalt Recruitment is partnering with a leading international real estate business to appoint an Assistant Building Manager across a high-grade commercial Estate in West London.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the earlier stages of their FM career to develop within a high-quality commercial environment. Working alongside an experienced team of Building Managers, you'll gain broad exposure to building operations, compliance, contractor management, occupier engagement and property finance across several Grade A office buildings.
The business has a strong track record of developing and promoting people internally, offering the chance to learn from high-performing Building Managers while building your career within a larger, internationally recognised real estate brand. Importantly, this is not simply a support position - you'll be trusted with genuine responsibility, given scope to make decisions and expected to take ownership of issues within your remit.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Building Managers with the day-to-day operation of several commercial office buildings across the Estate
- Carrying out building inspections and ensuring actions are raised and followed through
- Supporting H&S and statutory compliance, maintaining accurate records and monitoring outstanding actions
- Using CAFM and compliance systems to manage operational information and helpdesk activity
- Supporting hard and soft service contractors and monitoring works and performance
- Acting as a secondary point of contact for occupiers and responding professionally to building queries
- Supporting permits to work, contractor activity and service partner meetings
- Assisting with service charge administration, purchase orders, invoices and expenditure tracking
- Maintaining building documentation and supporting occupier meetings and management reporting
Commercial office experience is crucial. You may currently be an Assistant Building Manager, Facilities Coordinator or Assistant Facilities Manager, but you'll need a solid foundation in H&S compliance, CAFM systems, hard and soft services, contractor management and permits to work. IOSH would be advantageous.
We're looking for someone proactive, organised and ambitious who wants to develop without losing responsibility. You'll learn from experienced Building Managers while retaining genuine autonomy, taking ownership of issues and making decisions within your remit. Strong communication skills are essential, with regular interaction across occupiers, contractors and senior stakeholders.
For the right person, this offers an excellent balance of development and responsibility within a high-grade Estate and an internationally recognised property business.
