The role
As an Associate Development Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering financial viability advice across a range of development projects. The Associate Development Viability Consultant will work closely with senior stakeholders, supporting planning applications and negotiations.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Preparing Financial Viability Assessments in line with RICS guidance and planning policy.
* Advising on affordable housing strategy, including tenure mix and delivery options.
* Supporting S106 negotiations through clear viability evidence.
* Undertaking market research to inform land and property value assumptions.
* Engaging with local authorities, developers, and registered providers.
* Monitoring changes in planning policy and housing delivery frameworks.
* Producing reports for planning submissions, appeals, and inquiries.
* Supporting client relationships and contributing to business development activity.
The Associate Development Surveyor will gain exposure to a wide range of projects and play an active role in shaping development outcomes.
Skills and requirements
* Working knowledge of development viability, affordable housing, or valuation.
* Understanding of RICS Financial Viability in Planning Guidance and NPPF / PPG.
* Experience using Argus Developer and Excel-based appraisal models.
* Ability to produce clear written reports and present findings effectively.
* Experience working with developers, local authorities, or registered providers.
* Understanding of the UK planning system and affordable housing mechanisms.
* Degree in Real Estate, Planning, Economics, or a related discipline.
* RICS qualified and Registered Valuer status.
