About the Role

Cobalt is working with an independent development consultancy, recognised for advising on some of the UK's most high-profile and complex schemes. With a strong reputation for delivering clear, commercially focused advice, they are now looking to appoint an Associate to join their team in London.

Sitting within a well-established Socio-Economics function, this team provides market-leading insight into how development impacts people, place and the economy. You will work closely with senior leadership on a diverse range of projects, supporting major developers, landowners and public sector clients in shaping policy, unlocking sites and delivering sustainable growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to step into a strategic, client-facing role, combining economic analysis, advisory work and project leadership within a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing strategic socio-economic and social infrastructure advice across development projects
  • Undertaking economic and demographic analysis to inform planning and investment decisions
  • Preparing high-quality written reports and evidence to support planning applications
  • Leading on bids, tenders and client proposals
  • Managing project delivery, including timelines, budgets and stakeholder coordination
  • Supporting on CIL and S106 matters, including negotiations and viability considerations
  • Engaging with clients, consultants, local authorities and stakeholders
  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members

Skills and experience required:

  • Strong understanding of the built environment and socio-economic impacts of development
  • Proven project management experience within a consultancy or similar environment
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with confidence using data and statistics
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • Experience in preparing successful bids and tenders
  • Commercial awareness and ability to provide strategic advice
  • Collaborative approach with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
