About the Role

Shape the Future of Renewable Energy Projects Across Great Britain

Are you an experienced Planner ready to take the next step in your career?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Planner to join a growing planning consultancy in Edinburgh. Due to continued business growth and a strong pipeline of major projects, the team is looking to appoint an experienced planning professional with a passion for renewable energy and major infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering nationally significant projects across Scotland and England while helping to develop a growing team.

The Role

Working alongside an experienced planning team, you'll lead and manage a diverse portfolio of renewable energy and infrastructure projects from inception through to consent. You'll work closely with clients, technical specialists and stakeholders, providing strategic planning advice across a range of complex developments.

The role also offers the opportunity to mentor and manage a planning consultant, making it ideal for someone looking to build on their leadership experience.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading planning strategies for renewable energy and infrastructure developments.
  • Managing planning applications, EIAs and consent processes.
  • Working across both the Scottish and English planning systems.
  • Advising on major infrastructure projects, including Section 36 and Section 37 consents and NSIPs.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and managing client relationships.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members.
  • Contributing to business growth and maintaining high-quality project delivery.

About You

We're keen to hear from planners who have:

  • Around 7-10 years' planning experience.
  • MRTPI (or working towards if experience is exceptional).
  • Strong renewable energy and EIA experience.
  • Experience within the Scottish planning system (highly desirable).
  • Exposure to the English planning system, NSIPs, Section 36 and Section 37 consents, or a willingness to develop in these areas.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Previous mentoring or line management experience, or the desire to take on leadership responsibilities.

What's on Offer

  • Opportunity to work on nationally significant renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Hybrid working with a collaborative Edinburgh office.
  • Clear progression towards senior leadership.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Supportive, technically strong team with an excellent reputation in the sector.
  • Varied and challenging workload across Great Britain.

If you're looking for a role where you can work on some of the UK's most exciting renewable energy projects while developing your leadership career, we'd love to hear from you.
