About the Role

Job Title: Interim Client Accountant

Location: Marylebone (Office-based, 5 days per week)

Duration: 3 months (potential for extension)

Salary: £35,000 (pro rata)

A well-established independent estate agency specialising in high-end residential properties across North London are seeking an experienced Client Accountant / Financial Controller to join on an interim basis to support the finance function during a busy period.

 

The Role

 

As the Interim Client Accountant / Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring all client accounting processes are managed accurately and efficiently. This is a hands-on role, working closely with senior management and the operations team to maintain strong financial controls and compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage all aspects of client accounting in line with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Reconcile client accounts and ensure accurate handling of client funds in compliance with ARLA/Propertymark standards.
  • Maintain accurate financial records using Reapit (experience essential).
  • Oversee rent collection, deposits, landlord payments, and supplier invoices.
  • Produce and review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Support with cash flow management, bank reconciliations, and budget tracking.
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and management to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and accuracy.

 

Requirements

 

  • Proven experience in client accounting within the estate agency or property sector (essential).
  • Strong working knowledge of Reapit (essential).
  • Solid understanding of client money handling regulations.
  • Confident producing management accounts and handling reconciliations independently.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work autonomously in a fast-paced, office-based environment.
