About the Role
Looking to deepen your expertise in development valuations while gaining exposure to complex regeneration and residential schemes across London and the South East?
Cobalt is working with an established property consultancy that is growing its Development Consultancy team in response to increasing client demand. This is an opportunity for a Development Surveyor to build specialist valuation and viability knowledge while working closely with experienced Directors.
The Organisation
Our client is a well-established property consultancy advising public and private sector organisations across development consultancy, viability and valuation.
The team works with a varied client base that includes housebuilders, Registered Providers and local authorities, with projects spanning regeneration, residential development and town centre schemes.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team where there is an emphasis on professional development, senior-level exposure and involvement in meaningful projects throughout the development lifecycle.
The Role and Responsibilities
The role will focus primarily on development valuations, development consultancy and viability work, while gaining exposure to wider regeneration and land advisory projects. Responsibilities will include:
* Undertaking development appraisals, viability modelling, investment appraisals and residual land valuations using Argus Developer, Excel and bespoke models.
* Supporting development consultancy, valuation, compulsory purchase and public sector procurement instructions.
* Producing market research covering traditional property assets alongside emerging industrial and employment uses.
* Supporting RICS Red Book valuation reports, including property inspections, measurements and compulsory purchase compensation assessments.
* Advising clients on development viability and opportunities to improve the deliverability of schemes.
* Working with planning and development colleagues on the promotion of development sites.
* Supporting tender and bid submissions alongside colleagues and partner organisations.
* Advising on development constraints including rights of light, easements and restrictive covenants.
* Researching developments in public sector delivery models and partnership structures.
You will also have the opportunity to work directly with senior colleagues and clients, providing exposure to complex projects and supporting the development of specialist expertise.
The Skills Needed and Requirements
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
* A strong working knowledge of development valuations and/or viability assessments gained within a consultancy, advisory or development environment.
* A strong working knowledge of development appraisal and financial modelling using Argus and Excel.
* MRICS qualification or progress towards completing the RICS APC, ideally with exposure to valuation work.
* An interest in developing deeper expertise across valuations, development consultancy and viability.
This opportunity would suit someone who wants to establish a strong reputation within development valuations while working on projects that have a tangible impact on places and communities.
