About the Role

 

An established and growing consultancy, based in Chester, is seeking a Graduate Planner to join their friendly and collaborative team. Operating across the UK, the company delivers planning and environmental advice across a diverse range of sectors, including residential, commercial, infrastructure, energy, and mixed-use development.

This role offers the chance to work on a variety of exciting projects while developing skills and experience within a supportive environment. The successful candidate will receive mentoring and training with a clear pathway toward RTPI chartership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the preparation of planning applications and related documentation
  • Undertaking planning policy research and site appraisals
  • Assisting with stakeholder engagement and consultation activities
  • Liaising with local planning authorities and other external consultants
  • Contributing to planning appeals and local plan representations
  • Monitoring changes in planning policy, guidance, and case law

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • A relevant degree in Town Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, or a related discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and analytical abilities
  • A good understanding of the UK planning system
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Working towards (or intending to work towards) RTPI accreditation
  • Previous experience in a planning environment (e.g., internship or placement)
  • Full UK driving licence
