About the Role

Job Title: Project Planner

Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: Up to £75,000 plus car allowance, bonus, pension and an excellent package

The Opportunity

Our client, a Tier One contractor, is seeking an experienced Project Planner to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the delivery of three concurrent education schemes across the Hertfordshire area.

These projects represent significant local investment in education infrastructure, and you will play a pivotal role in ensuring their successful planning, coordination, and delivery from inception through to completion.

You will provide high-level planning expertise across both Pre-Construction and Construction Delivery phases, ensuring programmes are robust, accurate, and aligned with commercial and contractual requirements. Working closely with project teams, you will help drive the successful delivery of all three schemes simultaneously.

What You'll Be Responsible For

As a Senior Project Planner, you will take ownership of planning across all three education projects, effectively "running" the programme strategy for each scheme. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing detailed and competitive tender programmes for each scheme
  • Developing, managing, and updating construction programmes across all three projects
  • Attending regular site visits and acting as the lead planning contact for each project team
  • Monitoring progress across the schemes, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Coordinating programme activities to ensure alignment across the three live sites
  • Collating and analysing progress data to identify trends or areas of concern
  • Advising teams on sequencing, construction methodology, and programme strategy
  • Maintaining overall programme control and ensuring delivery milestones are achieved
  • Supporting change management and assessing programme impacts across multiple projects
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and reporting standards
  • You will act as a key interface between commercial, operational, and pre-construction teams, providing clarity, structure, and leadership across all three education schemes.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven construction planning experience within a main contractor environment
  • Experience working on build projects, ideally including education schemes
  • Advanced user of Asta Powerproject
  • Solid understanding of NEC contract conditions and their impact on planning
  • Experience across both tender and live project environments
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience managing or overseeing multiple projects simultaneously

Desirable

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
  • Membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, CIOB)

What is on Offer

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
  • Car allowance, bonus, and pension
  • Flexible and hybrid working options
  • Clear career progression pathway
  • Opportunity to take ownership of multiple key education projects within a growing region
  • Supportive and collaborative team culture
