About the Role
Cobalt is working with a forward-thinking housing provider to appoint a Quality Manager, supporting the delivery of high-quality residential developments and ensuring compliance, safety and long-term asset performance.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction quality professional to influence standards across a diverse development pipeline while working closely with internal project teams, external consultants and contractors.
The role
As Quality Manager, you will support projects from pre-construction through to defects resolution, ensuring quality, safety and compliance at every stage. This includes:
- Auditing drawings, specifications and design information, flagging non-compliances and supporting early design resolution.
- Carrying out site inspections including standard-setting, key stage, pre-close-up, functional and snagging inspections, with clear written reporting.
- Monitoring construction quality and fire safety, producing regular photographic reports and advising Project Managers and Employers Agents.
- Identifying defects and supporting the management of latent issues, advising on appropriate remedial actions.
- Contributing to handover decisions, ensuring works meet required standards and handovers align with internal policy.
- Feeding into the improvement of employer's requirements, design management procedures and materials/technology choices.
- Managing your time across multiple projects and participating actively in internal and external forums.
Skills & experience needed
- Working knowledge of quality management in construction, ideally within the UK housing sector.
- Experience in one of the following roles: Quality Manager, Finishing Foreman, Site Inspector, Clerk of Works, Architect or Building Surveyor with inspection responsibilities.
- Ability to inspect works from early construction through to completion, including functional and snagging inspections.
- Strong understanding of Building Regulations (including Part B), building safety requirements, CDM 2015 and client expectations in design and build environments.
- Ability to interpret design and fabrication drawings and interrogate specifications.
- Competent using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, with the ability to manage photographic evidence and produce clear factual reports.
- Confident working across multiple sites, managing time effectively and collaborating with varied project stakeholders.
- Professional membership such as CIAT, CIOB or ICWCI is advantageous.
- BTEC/HNC/HND/NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent experience) in a construction-related discipline.
