About the Role

Cobalt is working with a leading contractor on a major project in North London to recruit a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor. This role offers the opportunity to join a collaborative commercial and construction team on a high-profile scheme.

The Role / Responsibilities
Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Managing QS, your role will include:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of commercial strategy.
  • Preparing and managing subcontractor packages from tender to final account.
  • Keeping accurate site records, measurements, and control documents.
  • Contributing to CVRs, forecasting, valuations, and financial reporting.
  • Preparing and agreeing variations with robust supporting documentation.
  • Liaising with the site team to commercially influence project decisions.
  • Managing junior members of the team and reviewing their outputs.

Skills Needed / Requirements

  • Working knowledge of JCT contracts.
  • Experience in preparing tenders, valuations, and managing subcontractors.
  • Confident in drafting reports and commercial correspondence.
  • Familiarity with CVR processes and cost forecasting.
  • Educated to degree level and ideally working towards chartership.
  • Awareness of contractual risk, insurance, and warranty processes.
