Senior Consultant, Construction

About the Role

Cobalt is working with a long-established property investment and development business with a diverse portfolio spanning commercial, mixed-use and hospitality assets across London. Known for creating high-quality spaces that blend architectural heritage with modern design, the company has a strong in-house project and development team delivering schemes from initial concept through to completion. Please note, you need to be within 45 minutes commute of Hammersmith for this position.

The role

This opportunity sits within the internal development and construction team, supporting the delivery of a range of commercial and mixed-use refurbishment and fit-out projects. You'll take ownership of cost management from feasibility through to final account, working closely with internal stakeholders and external consultants. Typical projects include office refurbishments, retail space redevelopments and public realm enhancements across central London.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare, manage, and update cost plans, budgets, and cashflows for multiple live projects.
  • Procure and manage subcontractor packages, negotiating and finalising contracts.
  • Review and assess valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Provide commercial support to project managers, designers and the wider delivery team.
  • Maintain accurate cost reporting, forecasting and risk management documentation.
  • Support the strategic management of the company's capital expenditure programme.

Skills and experience required:

  • Working knowledge of quantity surveying within commercial building projects, ideally including office fit-out or retail refurbishment.
  • Strong cost management and contract administration skills.
  • Experience working on projects from design through delivery, whether client-side, PQS, or with a main contractor.
  • Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business with a long-term investment outlook, an active development pipeline, and a collaborative working environment.
