We have partnered with a well-established SME consultancy, expanding its transport team and seeking a Transport Planner / Engineer.

The Role

This is a standout opportunity for a transport planning professional looking to advance their career and gain exposure to a diverse mix of projects across the UK. You'll take ownership of high-quality technical inputs, playing a central part in the planning and design of transport solutions that support sustainable growth, improve access, and enhance connectivity across communities.

Key Responsibilities

· Assess site layouts for safe, efficient access and movement.

· Design highway elements including junctions, roundabouts, and signal controls.

· Contribute to Transport Assessments and planning submissions.

· Undertake traffic modelling using Junctions 10 (ARCADY & PICADY).

· Use TRICS and TEMPro for trip generation and growth forecasting.

· Prepare traffic flow diagrams to support modelling and assessments.

· Provide input on CAD work and swept path analysis.

· Liaise with clients, local authorities, and attend meetings/workshops.

· Review technical outputs from junior team members.

· Mentor and support junior staff in their development.

Desired Candidate Profile

· Experience in transport planning and infrastructure design, ideally in a consultancy setting.

· Good knowledge of Manual for Streets and DMRB standards.

· Proficient in AutoCAD and AutoTrack for early-stage junction design.

· Ideally experienced with Junctions 10, TRICS, TEMPro, and Excel (traffic flow diagrams).

· Familiarity with LinSig, GIS, and planning policy (e.g. NPPF, DfT, local plans).
