Our client, one of Europe's leading developers are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their highly regarded finance team. This role will report directly into Head of UK Finance, but will also work closely with other business functions, including both the development and investment team.

Assisting in the preparation of financial and management accounts, you will also be tasked to present information to senior board members as well as review and challenge information received.

Duties include:

  • Participating at monthly, quarterly and year end closings to ensure timely UK statutory and IFRS reporting in accordance with corporate deadlines

  • Dealing with and providing information to external auditors (annual audits, transaction audits)

  • Processing payments runs and expense claims and assigning codes in line with internal rules

  • Performing bank reconciliations and resolving accounting queries with the creditors and reconciling respective account statements

  • Assisting with VAT and CIS returns preparation for all entities

  • Verifying items billed against items ordered and received and reconciling differences

  • Ensuring that accounting practices comply with statutory requirements

  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal customers

  • On time delivery of primary tasks - regular reports, reconciliations

Key attributes required:

  • Studying towards ACCA/CIMA/ACA/AAT

  • Experience of working within the Real Estate or Construction sector

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities

  • Proactive, able to operate effectively and independently with minimum guidance

  • Highly detail oriented and able to meet assigned deadlines

  • Able to challenge processes and implement improved working methods
