Construction Estimator

A construction company in NYC is actively seeking a Project Estimator to join our quickly expanding firm. The Project Estimator serves a vital function in the growth of a construction company. The Project Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the total costs associated with a project. They review subcontractor bids in order to choose the most cost effective option. A challenging position that requires fine attention to detail. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure, especially when facing bid deadlines.

Responsibilities

* Prepare detailed conceptual budgets from pre-construction, concept design, schematic design and design development documents

* Perform detailed take-offs of all trades

* Initiate and manage entire bid process (CM and GC) inclusive of preparation of detailed bid packages and assure accurate and proper submissions/proposals by all subcontractors

* Accurately level all subcontractor bids

* Maintain vendor relationships

* Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients and subcontractors

* Interfacing with field team by communicating deliverable and procurement schedules

Requirements

* College educated

* Six to Eight years' experience in budgeting/estimating commercial interiors, retail as well as core and shell and out of the ground construction projects

* Must be able to efficiently multi-task

* Excellent time management and organizational skills

* Ability to work well under pressure of deadlines and meet them

* Demonstrate proficiency in reading commercial construction plans and specifications

* Ability to value engineer

* Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Timberline and On-Screen Takeoff (preferred but not required)
