£75,000 - £85,000 + Bonus

Cobalt is working with a client who is a market leading Property Consultancy firm in their search for a Financial Controller

The Financial Controller will be joining their high performing finance team, who are an integral part of the firm and the continued growth of the business.

Our client has a strong legacy of providing employee satisfaction and constant professional development. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Finance Director and will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the firm's finance function.


  • Supporting the Finance Director on pricing analysis, client profitability and productivity analysis

  • Preparation of ad-hoc analysis and modelling for the Finance Director and Partners.

  • Working with the Finance Director and the auditors to prepare and implement accounting policy and ensure adherence to UK GAAP and any relevant legislation

  • Working alongside the credit control and billing team, ensuring the firms billing practices and procedures are understood by the firm

  • Coordinating and preparing the budget and periodic financial forecasts, working closely with departmental heads and HR to collate schedules and fee forecasts, and incorporate changes throughout the year

  • Always ensuring a first-class service within the firm and to external stakeholders - clients, suppliers, auditors, HMRC and banks

  • Supervision and managing the team's accounts payable, expenses, billing and accountant staff - ensuring maximum efficiency

  • Working alongside the Finance Director, to help implement new finance systems such as Microsoft Business Central across the firm

  • Administering the firm's accounting and reporting systems

  • Advising the firm's fee earning departments

  • Responsibility for the firm's VAT functions and quarterly VAT returns

Key Requirements:

  • ACCA/ACA qualified or equivalent

  • Working knowledge of working within professional services or real estate consultancy

  • Proven ability to manage individuals across all levels

  • Advanced Excel skills preferably including Macros, Pivot tables and Advanced formulae

  • Any experience in implementing new controls or systems is preferential
