Job Title: Loan Asset Manager
Location: London
Role Overview: Cobalt is currently recruiting for a Loan Asset Manager to join our clients dynamic Loan Asset Management team in London. This client-facing role demands strong analytical skills and real estate debt experience. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the asset management of a pan-European mixed loan portfolio for a prominent global private equity firm, operating in a rapidly expanding market.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and oversee the approval process for waivers, lease approvals, and other ad hoc requests.
Conduct forward-looking monitoring and assessment of loan performance, comparing against underwriting standards and sponsor business plans.
Re-underwrite loans, especially those deviating from the business plan.
Prepare comprehensive quarterly and annual asset reviews.
Collaborate with the facility agent on reporting and address asset management queries.
Analyse development budgets, monitor project progress and manage drawdown processes.
Recalculate and spread financial statements and covenants in line with LMA structured finance definitions.
Manage property and tenant-level data, including financial trends, credit ratings, and relevant ESG credentials.
Actively gather and review up-to-date market research in the relevant asset class and geographic locations.
Participate in client meetings and present findings to stakeholders.
Evaluate and prepare recommendations for client consent items on loan and real estate-related matters.
Review relevant items of real estate finance and provide recommendations.
Maintain the integrity of loan information within the loan asset management system.
Undertake special projects as required.
Desired Skills and Experience:
3-5 years' experience in the UK & European real estate finance sector, including terminology.
Expertise in debt due diligence and transaction management.
Familiarity with LMA structured finance.
Proficient in MS Excel and cash flow modeling.
Experience in underwriting and/or managing performing and non-performing loans.
Understanding of borrower or sponsor-level information (financial statements, corporate structure, etc.).
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Strong analytical, written, verbal, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of European languages (German, Dutch, Italian, French, or other) is an asset.
Education/Experience:
Degree level education or equivalent, with real estate finance experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CAIA, CFA, or MRICS helpful but not essential.
