Salary - £65,000 / £75,000 + an excellent package

The Project

Our client is looking for a Planning Manager to work on the Northern Powerhouse Rail Project. Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) is a major strategic rail programme, specifically designed to support the transformation of the North's economy by providing effective and efficient rail connectivity between the North's major economic centres, offering a faster and more reliable service across the entire region. Connecting the people, communities, and businesses of the North.

The opportunity

The initial deployment for this role will be with the Network Rail freight team.

The individual for this role ideally needs to be highly experienced in delivering agile project planning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Guiding creation of timelines in line with project outcomes, reflecting customer requirements, and working across the project freight portfolio.

  • Working with project objectives and requirements from the project managers to define the project scope on a work level.

  • Developing and amending project plans in line with emerging requirements, regularly creating estimates of work effort and dependencies identified.

  • Working closely with a senior planner and project teams to map out the critical timescales and outcomes to give rail freight stakeholders value and confidence that the client is driving these projects effectively.

  • Owning the individual project plans in life and reports any changes to baseline plan, once generated. This is a key part of managing delivery and change control across the portfolio.
