Senior Finance Business Partner - Income

Band 8a Fixed Term Contract - up to £57,400

Cobalt PS are working with a Trust based in Greater Manchester to recruit a candidate who has extensive experience with NHS Finance who will be supporting the Associate Director of Finance in providing a comprehensive financial management and support service in all aspects of income management for the Trust; providing advice to the Senior Finance Team and divisional management teams when required.

The ideal candidate will have and have worked previously within a Trust at this Band 8a level in a similar role and be available to undertake a 12 month fixed term contract

Job Summary

  • A key element of the role is to ensure income is priced, invoiced, reported and forecasted accurately in accordance with National guidance (National Payment system e.g.), plus local contracts policies and guidance.

  • Supply the Associate Director of Finance with necessary information for corporate financial reporting, explaining significant variance movements, trends, and risks for inclusion in Trust Board Reports

  • Key to the role is maximising the contracted clinical income of the Trust by accurately reporting the Trust Income position on a monthly basis, plus thorough assessment and identification of opportunities and income risk (e.g. counting & recording issues; CQUIN; contract KPIs).

  • Contributing to the Trust's annual financial planning process whilst adhering to corporate standards and timetables.

  • The post holder will deputise for the Associate Director of Finance when appropriate.

  • The post holder will support the monthly and year-end production of local/national performance returns and statutory accounts.

  • Provide financial information and advice to the Senior Finance Team, Divisional Management Teams, Clinical Directors, and other managers as needed.

  • Conduct regular meetings with managers to promptly identify potential income issues for effective corrective action.

  • Take responsibility for all aspects of income budgetary management within relevant directorates, including performance monitoring and advice on corrective measures.

  • A key part of the role will be discussing complex issues with external commissioners, auditors and Trust staff at all levels.

  • Develop monthly financial performance reports considering activity, income, risks, and forecasts.

  • Review the Trust's income relative to national norms and other provider units, verifying significant variations.

  • Regularly reconcile the SLAM (Strategic Ledger Account Management) with the ledger to accurately record the latest contract position of the Individual Costed Benefits (ICBs).

  • Establish robust monitoring systems to track all income streams and assist Divisional Business Partners in triangulating income and activity with costs.

Role requirements

  • Proven working experience of review and analysis in revenue and costings for complex structures within NHS or Public sector organisations

  • Strong ability to business partner with multiple stakeholders and accurately review complex contracts

  • Excellent communication skills with stakeholders at all seniorities

  • Working knowledge of managing multiple income streams in the public sector is highly desirable, but not essential
