Client

Cobalt are working with a tier one contractor that are currently looking for a Senior Planning Engineer join their Highways team based in East Anglia. The Highways team have seen impressive growth over the last few years achieving tremendous success under the CDF Framework and Midlands Highway Alliance (MHA) amongst other local authority frameworks. Right now, they are poised for continued growth successfully retendering for the MHA strengthened with additional success on the Regional Delivery Partnership with Highways England in the South West and the Eastern regions.

The Project and Role

Our client is one of the Delivery Integration Partners (DIP) on the Regional Delivery Partnership Framework (RDP) with Highways England and have been awarded multiple schemes along the A47 running from Peterborough to Norfolk with a combined value more than £250m. The framework will see us firmly invest in the region over the next six years and beyond, so they are looking for a talented Senior Planner to assist us in the ECI phase on several of these schemes moving from detailed design into construction. The projects range from construction of new dual carriageways, roundabouts, junction improvements and interchanges with a series of structures all delivered in partnership with Highways England

As Senior Planner you will develop, update, and manage the construction programme to support on time delivery.

You will;

  • Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment.

  • Updating the Detailed Design Programme (Pre-Construction Schedule) along with our designers in assurance of providing a robust and realistic schedule that reflects the risk and opportunity that could impact key project milestones

  • Review and develop the preferred construction sequence considering project wide constraints to confirm the duration in the overall scheme schedule

  • Facilitate construction readiness planning

  • Arrange, facilitate and provide output from client and supply chain collaborative planning sessions

  • Cost load the schedule

  • Generate Earned Value Analysis from the cost loaded schedule

  • Monthly updating of the schedule and reports

  • Update and analyse the schedule based on the effects of Compensation events or other events which may affect the programme.

Candidate

Our client are looking for passion and a commitment for delivering excellence. If you have a solid track record of planning major civils projects in a highways setting then be sure to get in touch as I want to hear from you. You will need experience of working in the contracting environment with the ability to build programmes from scratch and report using P6. The ideal candidate will have progressed from a site engineering background so understands first hand how jobs are built.
