Role: Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer
Location: London
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000

Cobalt is working with an award-winning, employee-owned consulting engineering practice working internationally. Their engineering services incorporate designs for infrastructure, building structures, civil engineering, facades, and construction support.

Our client is going through some unrivalled growth and are looking to on board a Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer to join this top tier consultancy

Key Responsibilities

  • Work independently and demonstrated ability to lead small teams in the preparation of design related to civil engineering, structures, temporary works

  • Design delivery. Prepare, review and approve calculations, drawings and other documents

  • Good project/task management skills. Deliver multiple small projects and or tasks within budget and to program

  • Able to communicate with clients, review and agree scope for elements of work, prepare proposals.

Key Requirements

  • Very good structural engineering skills and experience with ability to design from first principles.

  • Very good experience in structural design software which can include: Etabs, Strand7, Spacegass, RAPT, RAM Concept, SAFE, Mathcad, Tedds. Candidate to nominate competencies.

  • Construction engineering skills and experience a plus

  • Good understanding of BIM and able to communicate and manage drafters.

  • Understanding of geotechnical design and related issues [i.e. soil-structure interaction, heave, ground water etc..]. Able to undertake simple tasks related with temporary works [i.e. piling or crane platforms design]

  • Work independently in the delivery of simple to medium complex elements of design

  • Ability to prepare AutoCAD drawings to meet timeframe, if drafting resources are not available.

  • Ability to carry out site inspection as requested by clients.

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to make decisions, act on your own initiative and operate in a pro-active way

  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well under pressure

  • Familiar with Eurocodes, NWR Standards is a plus, HE Standards is a plus

Qualification

  • MEng/BEng in Civil Engineering or similar
