Sustainability Manager
London
£55k - £60k + Bonus
Cobalt are currently working alongside a FTSE250 Property Company who are looking for a Sustainability Manager to join their established and successful team and be a part of their long term strategies for the business.
This role would be ideal for an ESG Analyst looking for the next step in their career, you will be working with the Director of ESG to deliver the businesses net zero carbon strategy. You will be responsible for the UK & European strategy, and would have opportunities to travel to key locations across Europe
Core responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the delivery of the technical sustainability strategy, including contributing to the business plan for multiple key workstream
Allocating budget and ensuring plans are delivered on time and to budget.Inclusive of energy efficiency programmes; renewable energy generation and procurement; reducing embodied carbon and measurement through life cycle assessments
Providing support in the development of ideas and strategies to commercialise, generate income and add value through sustainability projects
Working closely with the Sustainability Project Manager on multiple projects
Be responsible for the businesses sustainability data for external and internal reporting purposes
Leading the response to various ESG indices (GRESB, Carbon Disclosure Project, FTSE4Good Sustainalytics and Dow Jones Sustainability Index)
Representing on relevant professional bodies - e.g UK Green Building Council, British Property Federation, Better Buildings Partnership
Undertaking sustainability assessments on new suppliers to support the procurement team and develop strategies to engage with the supply chain to reduce carbon emissions
Manage the Legislative Risk Register to ensure the business is aware of proposed and actual changes to sustainability legislation in each territory to ensure continued compliance
Assessment of physical and transitional risks to climate change in line with TCFD requirements and best practice and to contribute to group wide review of building design in anticipation of climate change
Personal specification:
Strong technical knowledge of a broad range of sustainability issues and of relevant data management and reporting tools
Good knowledge of legal/local planning requirements around sustainability in the UK and Europe
Innovative and creative thinker with an aptitude for problem solving
Competent at managing a range of complex data sets and generating insightful high-level outputs
A keen interest and understanding of construction, engineering and sustainability issues
General commercial awareness within a corporate environment
Strong knowledge of the GHG Protocol, Net Zero Carbon, Science-Based Targets and Race to Zero would be desirable
Licensed BREEAM or LEED assessor and / or experienced with these certification systems is advantageous but not essential
