About the Role

An independent planning consultancy is seeking a motivated Town Planner from Graduate through to Associate level to join its growing team. With offices in the North and South and the option to work fully remote, the consultancy delivers high-quality planning advice across a wide range of sectors, offering the successful candidate exposure to a varied and challenging portfolio.

The Company

The consultancy advises across an exceptionally diverse client base, including:

  • Hospitality & leisure brands - pubs, hotels, food chains
  • Residential - land promotion and housing applications with leading housebuilders as well as small scale residential projects
  • Health sector - private hospitals and care home developers
  • Retail & commercial - fast food franchises, supermarket frameworks etc

Workload is consistently high-volume and varied, ranging from portfolio-wide conversions and extensions to retail impact assessments and socio-economic reports.

The Role

The appointed planner will support and lead on a wide range of planning applications, appeals, and permissions, including:

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications across multiple sectors
  • Delivering Retail Impact Assessments, Sequential Site Assessments, and Socio-Economic Reports
  • Contributing to Housing Land Supply Work
  • Providing planning advice to clients and managing applications from start to finish
  • Collaborating within a team of 11+ planners and heritage consultants

The role provides the opportunity to specialise in retail planning while maintaining a broad and diverse workload.

Candidate Requirements

The consultancy is seeking applicants with:

  • Experience in RIA, sequential testing, and socio-economic assessments
  • Strong application management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously (20-30 at a time)
  • A background in consultancy (essential)
  • RTPI status welcome but not essential
  • Applications welcomed at all levels
