Property Accountant

£65,000 p.a. plus bonus

Hybrid, Central London

We are partnered with one of the largest real estate investment managers globally in their search for a Qualified Property Accountant to join their growing finance team in London.

The Property Accountant will be responsible for the accounting of a growing pan-European portfolio of various real estate asset classes including industrial and student housing. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-billion investment manager that acquires, develops, and manages properties all over the world and be part of a thriving team. Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for all bookkeeping of allocated investments/portfolios

  • Responsible for accounts payable of allocated investments/portfolios. Manage approval of invoices, ensuring costs are in line with budget and purchase orders

  • Assist in drawdowns from investors and lenders and other development finance related tasks

  • Assist in cash flow reporting process and monitoring costs against budget

  • To provide an internal control function and to ensure that proper budgetary controls are enforced throughout the investment life cycle

  • Supporting the Finance Director and other members of the investment and asset management teams, building a relationship, and working with our JV partners and property manager's finance functions

  • Co-ordinate responses to audit queries where applicable

Key requirements:

  • Excellent academics, including ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification

  • Relevant experience, preferably with a private equity firm, real estate investment manager or an accountancy practice working with property clients

  • Experience in XERO is required

  • Understanding of the commercial aspects of Real Estate and how that ties into finance - awareness of capex/development monitoring, property manager functions, Real Estate debt, tax etc

  • Good communication skills, excellent attention to detail, flexibility and a proactive mindset to adapt to an entrepreneurial business environment is important
