Building Surveyor

Cobalt is working with a NHS Trust in Cheshire to source an interim Building Surveyor, paying £200 - £220 per day LTD rate (inside IR35, via umbrella company) depending on experience. This will be an initial 6 month contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and project management of Capital and Minor Works schemes from inception to completion, including preparation of feasibility studies, specification of works, working drawings and contract documentation, to enable schemes to finish on time, within budget, in accordance with current legislation/NHS guidance and to the client brief.

You will have/be able to:

  • Professional qualification, HNC or equivalent knowledge or experience in construction.

  • Project management experience within a building construction environment.

  • Ability to assist with the formulation, prioritisation and programming of capital, minor works, backlog maintenance and other new works schemes.

  • Prepare designs for major capital works in accordance with NHS HTM and HBN guidance notes, consult with Local Authorities on Planning and Building Regulations issues.

  • Knowledge of Building Regulations, DDA, CDM Regulations and Health & Safety legislation.

  • Experience of using CAD to a high level.

  • Ability to carry out measured building and site surveys and produce CAD drawings. Carry out presentations on new projects to the Trust's User Groups.

  • Familiarity with NEC forms of contract and general contract law as applied to the construction industry.

  • Effective communication skills to deal with key stakeholders and NHS staff across the Trust.

  • Be a logical thinker and a good problem solver.
