Financial Controller

£75,000-£85,000 + bonus

South West London, office-based

We are partnered with a privately owned property developer looking for a Financial Controller to join their growing team in South West London.

The Finance Controller will be responsible for the oversight of the project costing and cashflow reporting as well as review of Accounts Payable/Receivable and general accounting matters.

Responsibilities include

  • Preparation of annual accounts for the group

  • Liaise with external parties and auditors

  • Company set-ups in Sage accounting software

  • Accounting entries, such as posting and reconciling banks, revenue and sales invoicing, general ledger journals and accounting for specific transactions, and recording of loan statements

  • Recording of all large transactions associated with property sales and acquisitions

  • Overview the Accounts Payable, including suppliers and site manager payments

  • Management of SPV bank accounts

  • Monthly reporting of project costs for all current projects, loan summary reporting, cash flow reports and any other ad hoc reports requested by management

  • Preparation of costing summaries and other reports to assist construction team

  • All financial due diligence associated with purchase or sale of properties or SPVs

  • VAT and CIS registrations and returns; Corporation tax returns for main operating company and SPVs

  • Managing all interactions with HMRC

  • Liaison with external tax advisors

  • Incorporating SPVs, managing filings and compliance, maintaining statutory books for all companies, and monitoring group structure

  • Strategic planning with external advisors on group structure, capital planning long-term capital strategy

  • Managing two team members

Key Requirements

  • Accounting Qualification (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA) or qualified by experience

  • Relevant experience, ideally in the property/ development industry

  • Stakeholder management

  • Knowledge of accounting software preferably Sage

  • Strong excel skills

  • Ability to work as part of close-knit team, hands-on and flexible mindset
