Financial Controller - Real Estate, NNN Lease

Summary

Founded by three highly successful industry veterans our client is a private Real Estate Fund poised to acquire and manage significant NNN lease assets in a rapidly growing asset class throughout the United States and Canada. They wish to hire an entrepreneurial Controller with extensive Real Estate experience to establish and grow the team as assets are acquired.

The role

The Controller will work closely with the company principles and will:

  • Ensure the day to day running of the Finance & Accounting requirements for a firm acquiring Real Estate investments throughout the US and Canada.
  • Ensure proper protocols are in place for accurate and prompt financial reporting.
  • Utilize existing accounting systems to automate processes and reporting, as necessary.
  • Review all tax-based financial statements and oversee the preparation of detailed audit workpaper in connection with month, quarter and year-end financial audit and reporting processes.
  • Reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers to general ledger and monthly reports.
  • Collaborate closely with the Acquisitions team on new investments and build property specific budgets that allow the Asset Management team to drive maximum returns from the portfolio under management.
  • Manage annual Building Operating Expenses reports; prepare annual operating budget and revised forecasts.
  • Collaborate with the Capital Markets and Marketing teams when raising new capital.
  • Support Leadership with ad-hoc analysis requests.

The Individual

Given the start-up nature of the company applications are encouraged from entrepreneurially minded individuals that seek to help a company scale. In order to be considered your resume will need to demonstrate:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • You must be a registered CPA to be considered.
  • 7-10 Years of experience in Real Estate Accounting, ideally gained within a REIT, Fund or Owner/Operator.
  • Knowledge of GAAP/IIFRS
  • Knowledge of Sales/Leaseback and NNN Lease transactions would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience working closely with Acquisitions, Capital Markets and Asset Management teams.
  • Strong communication skills and experience gained in growing out teams.
  • A natural comfort dealing with high net worth individuals, investors, clients, and C-Suite executives.
  • A home base or willingness to relocate to the Miami area is mandatory.
