My client, the largest provider of student housing in the UK, finds, buys, refurbishes, lets, and manages high-quality student houses and flats on behalf of its investors. The whole process is managed in-house to ensure high brand standards across the portfolio with a focus on customer service and tenant enjoyment.

With a significant amount of investment to fuel future growth, the business is looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Portfolio Manager to join the team and lead the lettings, management and customer service operations across their fast-growing property portfolio. This is an important role leading an established team and an exciting opportunity for a high calibre candidate seeking significant responsibility.

The ideal candidate will be based at head office and will support the Lettings and Property Management Director, with UK-wide travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the letting and customer service teams for the property portfolio

  • Have responsibility for the financial and operational performance of the portfolio

  • Achieve or exceed planned rental income and expenditure targets and budgets

  • Manage the transition and integration of new acquisitions into the business

  • Ensure the appearance and presentation of properties meet expected high standards

  • Develop, manage and motivate the ambassador and agent networks to achieve letting & financial objectives

  • Ensure compliance with statutory, industry code and best practice requirements

  • Strengthen adherence to existing operational processes and standards

  • Organise and manage annual tenant handover process planning and delivery each summer

  • Support the implementation and embedding of planned new digital business processes

  • Lead performance improvement projects and initiatives working with team members to implement

  • Address and resolve escalated issues and complaints in a timely and efficient manner

  • Research, monitor and report on market activity in existing and target cities

  • Carry out any reasonable request from the senior management team and work flexibly across the organisation as required

Requirements

  • Strong leadership and people management skills

  • Excellent organisation and time management skills

  • Strong budget management credentials and accountability

  • Advanced communication and institutional quality reporting skills

  • Committed to providing excellent level of customer service from initial contact through to tenancy end

  • Able to manage multiple projects running concurrently

  • Manage team to enter consistently high-quality information in management systems

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong HMO and/or purpose-built student housing sector experience highly desirable

  • ARLA qualifications highly desirable

  • Full UK driving license highly desirable
