Senior Consultant, Construction

About the Role

Cobalt is working with a long-established and privately held property group to find a Building Surveyor / Project Manager to join their in-house team. This is a rare client-side opportunity offering a broad range of technical responsibilities across an eclectic UK-wide portfolio, with a focus on long-term thinking, autonomy, and flexibility.

The organisation
This privately backed property group operates with a genuine long-term mindset, focusing on the stewardship and enhancement of their assets rather than quick wins. Their in-house team is relaxed, supportive, and known for its down-to-earth approach.

  • Three days a week in their Surrey based office, with flexibility for two days WFH.
  • A culture that values balance, offering social events and a family-friendly working style.

The role and responsibilities
You'll work on a diverse range of projects, from Grade I listed buildings in London to larger residential blocks across the UK. This is a cradle-to-grave role where you'll take ownership from planning to delivery.

  • Manage refurbishments, reactive and planned maintenance, and capital projects.
  • Deliver project management input on new builds and conversions.
  • Handle defect analysis, party wall matters, damp and leaks investigations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors and consultants.
  • Provide contract administration and technical input across the portfolio.
  • Report into senior in-house leadership with clear and consistent support.

Skills and experience required

  • MRICS preferred but not essential - we welcome those with equivalent experience.
  • Comfortable handling complex projects across varied building types.
  • Ability to work independently, with initiative and strong communication skills.
  • Down-to-earth and collaborative mindset, able to work in a flexible team environment.

Apply now - interviews are taking place shortly.
If you're looking to step away from the pressure of West End consultancy while retaining project variety, this could be the ideal next move.

Due to the volume of applications received, if you don't hear back from us, please assume your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. If you require any adjustments or additional support during the recruitment process for any reason whatsoever, please let your Cobalt consultant know.
