Facilities Manager

Chris Sycamore
About the Role
Cobalt is delighted to be supporting a well-established and growing student accommodation provider in appointing two new Facilities Managers to oversee a regional portfolio of modern, design-led buildings.
Having come about due to an internal promotion & business growth, you'll be responsible for a regional portfolio of circa 10 sites, with specific location and coverage tailored to where the successful candidate is based.
The company is progressive, people-focused, and performance-driven - offering the opportunity to take ownership of your schedule and build a long-term career within a collaborative and growing business in a home-based role.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Delivering FM services across a regional portfolio of student accommodation properties
-
Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety regulations and statutory inspections
-
Managing both planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and fabric works
-
Overseeing FM contractors and local facilities support staff
-
Completing regular site inspections, managing remedial works, and approving project completion
-
Supporting tender processes, contractor mobilisation, and service performance reviews
-
Contributing to service charge budgets and maintaining tight spend control
-
Reporting on risk, compliance, and service performance to senior management
You'll be a strong operational manager with experience running multiple buildings and engaging confidently with contractors, internal teams, and residents. A background in PBSA is helpful but not essential - commercial, residential, retail or hospitality property experience is equally valuable.
You'll be someone who enjoys flexibility, autonomy, and accountability - comfortable setting your own schedule while ensuring high standards are consistently met.
What you'll need is previous experience in Facilities Management across a multi-site portfolio, along with a solid understanding of compliance and statutory obligations - an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification is essential. You should have clear, confident communication skills and the ability to build trusted site relationships, financial awareness with budget and contractor oversight, strong organisational capability, and the ability to work independently. A team player mindset and a positive, solutions-focused approach will round out your fit for this role.
