Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Planner (Asta) to join their planning team, supporting the delivery of one of the Channel Islands' largest and most high-profile healthcare developments.
The successful candidate will play a key role on the new Overdale Acute Hospital project in Jersey - a landmark £700m+ healthcare scheme being delivered as part of the Government of Jersey's New Healthcare Facilities Programme. The development will provide a state-of-the-art acute hospital facility spanning approximately 47,500m², incorporating a new Emergency Department, operating theatres, inpatient and critical care beds, alongside a dedicated Women's and Children's Centre.
This is a rare opportunity to become involved in a technically complex, major healthcare project from its early delivery stages, working alongside multidisciplinary teams on a scheme that will have a lasting impact on the island's healthcare infrastructure for generations to come.
Job Purpose and Scope
You will be responsible for updating and monitoring a fully integrated programme, including implementing and managing change throughout the lifecycle of the project.
The role requires a Senior Planner who is methodical, proactive and data-driven, whilst possessing the communication skills to confidently engage with all stakeholders involved in the project, including the client and their representatives.
Essential
- Use of specialist planning software (Asta); training from other planning software is an option
- Strong planning experience gained within a live construction site environment
- Previous experience working on major healthcare, infrastructure or technically complex construction projects would be highly advantageous
- Hands-on planning mindset with determination and passion for identifying problems before they are realised to deliver the best possible outcome
- Ability to think critically and methodically
- Capability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently
- Strong record-keeping skills and a data-driven attitude with project controls experience
- Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of development including design, procurement, construction (structure, architecture and services), commissioning and handover
- Ability to quickly and clearly articulate key issues whilst listening to and capturing concerns from others
- Detailed knowledge of UK key features of common forms of contract
Accountabilities and Key Tasks
- Compiling and undertaking project progress reviews
- Maintaining programme quality and integrity throughout the project lifecycle
- Carrying out in-depth programme analysis and communicating project risks and opportunities, including proposing mitigating actions
- Developing and managing optimum working programmes in conjunction with project teams to meet key project objectives covering design, procurement, enabling works, construction, commissioning, handover and client milestones
- Chairing and minuting programme, logistics and delivery workshops
- Capturing and analysing as-built progress data
- Communicating effectively within the project team to ensure all parties understand their responsibilities in achieving programme objectives
- Analysing documents from external and internal sources
- Meeting and communicating with supply chain specialists to confirm suitable methods and programmes for project-specific constraints
- Monitoring and reporting progress against programmes whilst suggesting mitigation actions where required
- Demonstrating entitlement and programme management strategies to protect the business from commercial harm
- Summarising project status updates to senior management, highlighting unresolved risks and potential overruns
