About the Role
The Opportunity
A well-established and growing planning and environmental consultancy is seeking a Senior Planner to join its new and expanding team in Newcastle. The company delivers expert planning and environmental services across the UK, working on a wide variety of projects in the residential, commercial, infrastructure, energy, and mixed-use sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional with consultancy experience to take the next step in their career. The role offers the chance to manage diverse planning projects, engage with high-profile clients, and contribute to the strategic growth of a regional office.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and managing a range of planning applications and development projects
- Preparing planning statements, site appraisals, and appeal documentation
- Advising clients on planning strategy and development potential
- Engaging in stakeholder and community consultation
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders
- Supporting junior colleagues through mentoring and technical guidance
- Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the Newcastle office
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Degree in Town Planning or related discipline
- Chartered Membership of the RTPI (or actively working towards it)
- A strong understanding of the UK planning system, policies, and procedures
- Proven experience preparing and managing planning applications
- Excellent written, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage client relationships and project timelines
- Eligible to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a consultancy environment
- Local knowledge of the North East planning landscape
- Full UK driving licence
