About the Role

The Opportunity

A well-established and growing planning and environmental consultancy is seeking a Senior Planner to join its new and expanding team in Newcastle. The company delivers expert planning and environmental services across the UK, working on a wide variety of projects in the residential, commercial, infrastructure, energy, and mixed-use sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional with consultancy experience to take the next step in their career. The role offers the chance to manage diverse planning projects, engage with high-profile clients, and contribute to the strategic growth of a regional office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing a range of planning applications and development projects
  • Preparing planning statements, site appraisals, and appeal documentation
  • Advising clients on planning strategy and development potential
  • Engaging in stakeholder and community consultation
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders
  • Supporting junior colleagues through mentoring and technical guidance
  • Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the Newcastle office

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Degree in Town Planning or related discipline
  • Chartered Membership of the RTPI (or actively working towards it)
  • A strong understanding of the UK planning system, policies, and procedures
  • Proven experience preparing and managing planning applications
  • Excellent written, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage client relationships and project timelines
  • Eligible to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a consultancy environment
  • Local knowledge of the North East planning landscape
  • Full UK driving licence
