About the Role
A leading property consultancy is seeking an ambitious and driven Associate - Team Leader to join its Asset & Property Management division in East London. This is a key leadership role within one of the firm's commercial surveying teams, offering the chance to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of commercial assets while leading a small, dynamic team.
You'll be working across a wide range of office, retail, and mixed-use properties, with some exposure to industrial assets. The Role
As the Associate - Team Leader, you'll lead a team of two (including a Junior Management Surveyor and a Facilities Manager) and oversee the delivery of high-quality property, asset, and facilities management services. You'll take responsibility for maintaining service excellence, driving performance, and developing client relationships.
Your role will combine strategic asset management with operational oversight, ensuring your portfolio meets both financial and service objectives. You'll work closely with other divisions including Building Surveying, Cost Consultancy, and Lease Advisory to deliver a fully integrated service to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee a team delivering end-to-end asset, property, and facilities management across a mixed commercial portfolio.
- Manage rent and service charge processes, liaising with client accountants and ensuring strong credit control.
- Take responsibility for all health and safety coordination, ensuring compliance across managed assets.
- Provide proactive, strategic advice to clients to maximise investment returns and improve asset performance.
- Handle all landlord and tenant matters including rent reviews, lease renewals, break clauses, and licences for alterations.
- Manage relationships with approved suppliers, ensuring all works meet required standards and service levels.
- Collaborate with interdivisional teams to deliver cohesive client solutions.
- Support business development by identifying opportunities to enhance value and expand client relationships.
About You
You're a confident leader who brings both commercial acumen and a hands-on approach. You combine technical excellence with the ability to inspire and guide others, and you take pride in building lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
Requirements
- Degree educated, ideally with MRICS qualification (or equivalent experience).
- At least 4-5 years' post-qualification experience within asset or property management.
- Sound understanding of Landlord & Tenant legislation, facilities management, and health & safety regulations.
- Proven experience preparing and managing service charge budgets and reconciliations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce professional reports and correspondence.
- Strong time management, organisation, and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of QUBE, TRAMPS, or Planet FM software preferred.
